Déjà Vu On The Ledge
Being lost is normally characterized as a highly undesirable state of mind. This video deals with the merit of being lost as a prerequisite for discovery, the value of taking risks and of escaping our comfort zone for destinations as yet unknown. It deals in a symbolic manner with the obstacles inevitably encountered and the importance of continuing our journey of exploration in spite of their constant reoccurrence. When we begin new experiences of exploration, we often have the strange sensation of having been there before, of having confronted very similar situations. Confrontation in some form is inevitable when we venture into uncharted waters.
The rushes used in this video were originally shot as part of the project Encounters in the Right and Left Hemispheres (2020/21). Reflecting on their relevance in other contexts led to the creation of the present work.
